Seasoning is the secret to keeping cast iron cookware strong, smooth, and long-lasting. Many people avoid cast iron because they think it is difficult to maintain, but the process is actually simple.
Seasoning means applying a thin layer of oil to your cast iron cookware and heating it so the oil bonds with the surface. Over time, this creates a natural protective layer that helps reduce sticking and prevents rust.
Here is a simple way to season your PureCook cast iron cookware:
First, wash the cookware gently with water and mild soap. Dry it completely with a cloth. This step is very important because cast iron should not be left wet.
Next, apply a very thin layer of cooking oil on the entire surface. Do not use too much oil. A light coating is enough.
Then heat the cookware on low to medium flame for a few minutes until it becomes warm. Let it cool naturally. Wipe away any extra oil if needed.
Repeat this regularly, especially after washing.
With regular use, your cast iron tawa, kadai, or fry pan will become better seasoned and easier to cook with. Cast iron is not instant non-stick, but with patience, it becomes naturally reliable.
PureCook tip: Cook with a little oil in the beginning. Your cookware will improve with every use.
