The PureCook Cast Iron Appe Pan makes appe (also called paniyaram, paddu or kuzhi paniyaram) that turn golden and crisp outside and soft inside, with very little oil. Heavy cast iron spreads heat evenly into every cavity. There is no synthetic non-stick coating, and the surface gets better with every use. Two side handles make it easy to lift and serve. Care Instructions

• Wash and dry completely before first use.
• Preheat on low to medium flame for 3 to 4 minutes.
• Add a few drops of oil to each cavity before pouring batter.
• Do not soak in water or use a dishwasher.
• Dry on the flame after washing and wipe a thin layer of oil before storing.

FAQs

Does it work on induction?

No. The base follows the shape of the cavities and is not flat, so it does not heat properly on induction. Use it on a gas stove.

Is this an appe pan or paniyaram pan?

Yes. Appe pan, paniyaram pan, paddu pan and kuzhi paniyaram pan are regional names for this same cavity pan. It is not the Kerala appam pan (appachatti), which is a single round, deep pan used for lace-edged appam.

Will the appe stick?

New cast iron needs a few uses to season. Use a little more oil for the first few batches; after that they release easily.

Is it chemical-free?

Yes. There is no synthetic non-stick coating.
